…entrepreneurship isn’t a one size fits all, but allowing students the opportunity to try new ventures, when most can not, would have an unimaginable effect on the world, let along the students after graduation.

Aaron Anderson Wins $2500 Scholarship

The journey of Aaron Anderson is just getting started. For the past year, Aaron has been a part of the Alpha Beautillion program, sponsored by the B.E.A.M. Foundation and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. This program aims to prepare students for college, secure scholarship funding, and present them to the community at a formal gala. From this class of young leaders, Aaron won the 2025 Alpha Beautillion Oratorical Competition, earning a $2,500 scholarship.

In response to the prompt: What does the current educational system lack that would greatly impact student outcomes in life? Aaron presented his speech during the gala. As a student of Do Greater, passionate about music production (DJing) and entrepreneurship, he highlighted our organization and the benefits and opportunities that we provide outside educational traditions.

As a Do Greater student, Aaron participated Start Upward, entrepreneur training, learning about business models, marketing and branding; and he also became certified as a DJ— “hence, real life skills,” as Aaron noted in his awesome speech.  Do Greater is proud to have had the opportunity to pour into Aarons life, will continue his education at the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences (CRAS), where he will study Audio Engineering and Music Production.  S0, set your clock and wait to see what he becomes.

Do Greater Welcomes Gurman!

Gurman Kaur is a rising sophomore at UNC-Chapel Hill, majoring in Data Science with a minor in Medical Anthropology. As a Carolina Covenant Scholar, she is part of a university-wide initiative that provides mentorship, academic guidance, and a strong support network—an experience that has helped her pursue opportunities with purpose and confidence across academics, professional development, and community impact.

She is also a Pre-Apprentice in the Road to Hire program, a nonprofit organization that prepares students for college and STEM careers through apprenticeships, mentorship, and technical and professional development. Through the program, Gurman has strengthened her skills in data, design, and communication while exploring career paths in technology and healthcare.

Gurman’s journey with Do Greater Charlotte began in 2022 at the CRTV Lab Designathon, where she explored creative problem-solving, design, and entrepreneurship. She later contributed to projects like the Stick Williams Dream Fields & Education Center Dedication before stepping into her current role as a Data Analytics & Program Evaluation Intern in summer 2025. In this role, she supports youth-focused programs like Start Upward, Design to Dollars, and Seeds to Success by analyzing student feedback and creating impact reports that highlight the confidence, creativity, and entrepreneurial growth these programs help students build.

She is passionate about how data can be used to support youth development, entrepreneurship, and healthcare equity. Gurman hopes to pursue a career as a data analyst or consultant in a corporate setting—applying data to shape strategy, guide decisions, and drive lasting impact.
